Pittsburgh Mayor’s Forum

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Mad props to my friend and colleague Diane Bucco, the President the Forbes Fund who is part of a coalition that will be hosting a nonprofit candidate’s forum this Thursday.

I was just out in Pittsburgh and met with a ton of her colleagues to discuss a forum, and I am really excited to see that they have jumped into the mix to quiz the three declared contenders on the role of the sector.

While I really wish I could be there, they asked me if I had a question they could ask. I do.

“Given the economic role of the sector in our city, would you appoint a Deputy Mayor of Philanthropy to help strategically coordinate the resources of Pittsburgh to achieve your vision?”

I’ll keep you posted on how they respond to this and other questions soon. In the meantime—the V3 Campaign will be posting the questions that were recently asked at the Austin and El Paso Mayor’s forums that were held last month. Check it OUT.

DCCK in Scotland’s Holyrood Magazine

Friday, May 1st, 2009

I’ve been in the UK twice in recent months, speaking in Edinburgh and then Burmingham on the topics of Social Enterprise, the V3 Campaign (international) and, of course, our work at DCCK. I was just asked to pen an op-ed for Holyrood magazine. Read it and LEAP.

Even better….they also published an article by Marianne Ali, the Kitchen’s Director of Culinary Job Training, in which she outlines the 12 week course that she and her team ROCK. Stand back when you read this, Baby….that thing is HOT
